⁷ And whenever you hear-of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. They must take place, but it is not yet the end. ⁸ For nation will arise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places. There will be famines. These things are^[a] a beginning of birth-pains. ⁹ But you— be watching yourselves. They will hand you over to councils^[b]. And you will be beaten in synagogues. And you will be stood before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them.
